Trips to Wroclaw

Wroclaw is an exciting city with a big yet intimate feel. It's often compared to other charming European cities and is sometimes even called the new Krakow. With countless restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping options ranging from modern malls to small local shops, it attracts a broad audience from all corners of Europe. Historically, the city has changed its name five times, been part of four different countries, and boasts the fourth highest number of bridges in Europe. You'll encounter Gothic spires, canals, and a network of narrow, cobblestone streets. The city blends elegant classical concert halls with a vibrant nightlife scene dominated by young students, who make up ten percent of the population. Don't miss the main square in the old town and the flower market on Plac Solny, where tulips are sold all night long. Of the many beautiful churches, the Church of St. Elizabeth stands out and is worth a visit for its tower that offers a magnificent view over the city. Ostrow Tumski island provides a peaceful retreat, and if you're passionate about botany, there's a botanical garden just north of the island. Among the museums, the ethnographic and archaeological ones are especially worth visiting.

In Wroclaw, you can enjoy shopping in the city center, on the pedestrian streets around the square, or in the upscale stores along Odrzanska and Mikolaja streets. There are two large department stores, one near the railway station and another a short taxi ride from the center. Most bars and restaurants are located around the old town square, but many student-friendly spots can be found along Ruska Street.
