In medieval times, the town was a hideout for pirates who used the dramatic mountain massif behind the town as their refuge. Today, Omiš is a meeting place for locals and the small harbor serves as a starting point for scenic boat trips. In the charming old town, there are plenty of restaurants and bars offering a good range of affordable options. On both sides of the town, there are lovely beaches with coarse sand.
